About

Natural Shield is an exceptional waterproofing sealer that excels under the most demanding circumstances. Natural Shield’s low molecular weight allows for excellent penetration. Natural Shield fills into the pores of the substrate, in which chemical reaction follows, that creates a solid, but breathable membrane. Natural Shield provides long lasting protection for a vast array of surfaces in which it leaves a natural finish. It has durability and performance of a solvent-based system, but with the easy application and clean-up of water-based products. FAQ

What is the coverage of SEMCO Natural Shield?

The coverage of the SEMCO Natural Shield is approx. 150 - 350 sq ft per gallon at 3 coats depending on the porosity of the substrate

Can SEMCO Natural Shield be used on painted surfaces?

The SEMCO Natural Shield needs pores to penetrate into the surface in order to be effective.

Is it slippery?

No, since the SEMCO Natural Shield is a penetrating sealer, your sealed surface will not change in look and feel.

Can SEMCO Natural Shield be used on cinder block?

Yes, absolutely! The SEMCO Natural Shield is technically a concrete and masonry sealer that can be used on vertical surfaces. It will make the wall repel water and should help with the efflorescence issue. If there are any cracks, you need to fill them before applying the sealer as the sealer does not span cracks and will not stop water from entering a crack.

How to apply SEMCO Natural Shield?

  1. Surface Preparation
    • Execute appropriate preparation method to suit your needs before application. Reference to the SEMCO SIP Manual under the Surface Preparation Section.
    • Sweep all debris off surface to ensure proper bond.
  2. Application
    • Apply the sealer with a 1/4” nap roller, HVLP sprayer, pump sprayer, or airless sprayer with tip size 17. Minimum of 3 coats are required to ensure maximum performance
    • Apply the first coat and DO NOT ALLOW THE SEALER TO DRY BEFORE APPLYING SECOND AND THIRD COATS. Do not allow to puddle
    • Repeat the application to a minimum of 3 coats. Additional coats may be required depending on the porosity of the surface (X-Bond requires, 3 coats only, other surfaces such as concrete or block may require additional coats)
  3. Tools needed
    • Airless sprayer with tip size 17
    • 1/4” nap roller
    • OPTIONAL : pump sprayer

DRYING / RECOAT TIME

Drying times are affected by temperature and relative humidity. The chart represents guidelines values but each project is to be treated individually.

The chart represents the time needed in between coats at specified temperature.

CURE TIME

Curing time is affected by temperature and humidity.

For example at only 50º F, a full cure would take 10 days in comparison to at 95º F it would only take 5 days to cure.
